Excerpt 1: Light and Darkness on the Earth; Elements and Elementals
(At the cabin)
Barbara: Mary, I know you have so much you want to tell us. We sit here on this beautiful morning, on the cabin screen porch. It’s cool, probably 60 degrees here, maybe warmer down by the beach in the sun. Here in the woods, a cool breeze.
The sun is playing on the tree leaves, and the leaves look translucent. Up above me, a skylight, trees and branches towering above, bits of sky. How high do you think those trees are—maybe 80 feet? All so beautiful. We offer thanks for this beautiful space with its serenity and high energy.
Mary, it’s easier for you to reach me when I’m surrounded by this high energy. I’m aware of that. You come through much clearer in this high energy. It’s not just when you come through—like right now I can hear you but my body holds your energy more easily, and I don’t feel tired afterward in this high energy.
Our request to you is simply, what do you want to tell us, and through us, to tell the Deep Spring Center sangha, whatever friends might want to listen to this? …
Mary (B): I am Mary, and I greet you with love, my friend. It is a beautiful morning…
So many mornings like this I can remember in different places that I have lived, where joy flew out of the earth, flew out of the trees, and the skies held that joy and light. You can feel the true presence of the earth itself that has been buried under grit all these years.
This light is the earth. Can you feel the high energy of the earth this morning? (Q: Yes, yes…)
I’m not suggesting that the darkness is not there, but as Aaron would put it, where is the light? Where do you wish to focus your attention?
Look up, my friend, and see the light shining out of the trees. These trees do not carry nearly the energy that the trees in your original Eden carried, and yet they are the same trees, and the essence of that light and energy is there.
So much is diminished. The intention was to birth a world of high energy, and then the human would learn to be present with catalyst, experience both the light and the darkness but not get lost in the darkness.
There had to be heavy energy for the human to learn how to move through the heavy energy without becoming lost in it. Holding the Light it itself, it could draw forth the light in matter.
Before this you were not living in matter. In Lemuria, for example, it was all energy. There were forms, but they had no substance as matter and with the heavy elements that you have on earth.
If you wished to create a form, it was done mentally. You had the ability to create walls around you for protection, if you wished, but there was nothing to protect against. But if you wished to create some shape that would look beautiful, you thought it and invited the materials together.
In your prior Eden there was nothing dangerous to you. There was rain, because there were all the elements, and there was shelter from rain. There was nothing to fear. There was no illusion of separation. You were not separate from the rain. You were not separate from anything.
The need, then, was for the illusion of separation so that the person could break through that illusion and know the truth and to live the truth.
Added from Mary, in response to my question, as I reviewed: please further explain the need for the illusion of separation. Mary: There is Light and Energy, which are the basis of all forms. Light, as energy, is the essential ingredient for form. That form is inert, has yet no consciousness and only the vibration of the Light itself (which is high but not able to be active!). Consciousness is needed, and consciousness needs a teacher, or one to invite it. You as humans are the teachers to the earth. I will expand on this in a further talk.
But the humans became so caught in the illusion of separation that they were lost in it. The only way to feel safe, then, was to push everything else away, to negate the so-called other, to cherish the self. And everybody was negating everything else, and that pulled the whole earth into a downward spiral, very heavy energy on earth.
Through centuries—I am not accurate on your numerical time—through the centuries, it devolved into true human depravity, where joy was seen in harming others; for example, the crowds that sat in the Roman Colosseum seeing people torn apart by lions or tearing each other apart. Kill! Kill!
Touching that part of the human nature that could move into low vibration, was essential to the developing human, and thence, the earth. Why? Why is it essential? Because you cannot know the true light unless you also know the darkness, as Aaron has been teaching you.
I want to say here to all of you: Aaron in our lifetime together 2,000 years ago, he was a beloved friend, Nathaniel. He came into that lifetime to help my beloved Yeshua, to help us all. He was one of the elders at that time. He was not simply a shepherd. But he was not yet fully liberated in terms of his own human experience, and I delight that he has become thus in these centuries since.
His teaching is sublime. You are looking at me and saying, “Teach me.” There is really nothing I can teach you that Aaron cannot teach you. But I am happy to be here as a friend. I am grateful that you have found your way to Aaron.
There are areas that I can speak on with some authority, and so that’s where we will start: the need to know the darkness to truly know the light, or the light does not have meaning.
But there is a time when one must leave the darkness and know the light and choose the light consciously.
The earth—again, others can speak on this more clearly than I can, others such as Ariel and Love. And they are also sublime teachers.
It was well-timed that the earth needed to descend, the humans needed to descend into a level of heaviness—as I said yesterday, to touch bottom before there was an impetus to arise again.
The human consciousness pulls heavily upon the earth itself. The earth elements do not lead the way; human consciousness leads the way, and the elements follow, to some degree. So, you are the teachers of the earth and its elemental structure.
Let me use these words carefully, Aaron asks me. Element and elementals are not the same. The elements are filled with elementals, the small expressions of the elements which have learned some degree of consciousness.
The clay soil, the rock and whatever of the earth, does not in itself have consciousness. The elementals cannot really be separated from the element, and yet they are more outer expressions of the elements. Whatever lacks elementals is flat and lifeless. Here we have form without consciousness. Water with its elementals is full of expression, full of light or full of darkness.
Human consciousness—this is not where I was going to go first, but we’ll keep going here for another few minutes and then move on.
Human consciousness and the elementals interact. The more human consciousness awakens to the presence and cherishes the elementals and though them lightens the elements, can converse with elementals and elements, the more you can both help to heal the places where the earth is collapsing in on itself, moving into a negative spiral.
The elementals are basically filled with light and high energy, but they are small and they need love. They need light to open. Humans can offer that Light.
The destruction of your earth, the destruction of the elements of the earth must stop. The earth can heal itself, no matter how dark it gets. But the more you devalue the earth and destroy the earth, the longer it will take to restore itself.
If you stop now, within this next decade—shift the use of fossil fuels, for example, and the emissions and all the things that are causing such destruction in the earth, the next step will be healing the earth.
To do that you have to understand how to heal yourself.
Excerpt 2: Exercise in Healing Oneself
Mary (B): (continuing from Part 1) …To do that you have to understand how to heal yourself.
A very simple exercise that I used to teach 2,000 years ago—one that at first might seem unpleasant, but it’s very simple. In those days we did not have a pin— we used a thorn.
We washed the hand. Yes, I knew about germs. We washed the finger. And then we punctured it with a thorn, one tiny puncture. Squeezed a drop of blood. Patted it with a bit of cloth. Held the cellular structure of the skin with love. Truly loved it, and within a few seconds that puncture would heal over.
We practiced with this with children, so they learned how, if they had a cut, to assist healing. Of course, a bigger cut might take longer, and a bigger cut might need pulling together. We did suture a wound in those days.
But you are not dependent on someone else to heal you. You learn how to heal it by practicing with the simple cellular structure of a tiny puncture in the finger. Feeling into the cellular structure; feeling agitation as it is wounded. Holding it in love. Soothing it. Allowing it to release the agitation so the light can come up.
We’re dealing with water energy as the blood, earth energy as the skin and the tissue, fire energy moving through the body, air. Releasing.
All of this is possible.
It is essential now for you to learn how to heal yourselves so that you will be able to heal the earth.
To attend to all the smallest expressions of being everywhere on the earth and know that they are part of you, know that nothing is separate, and to hold it in love.
In doing so you are also— and very importantly— helping to reverse the trend of separating, of cherishing the self while negating the other. Holding everything with love.
And this is what will enhance the upward spiral into a positive and awakened earth.
The consciousness of humans on the earth had reached a low point.
With Yeshua’s coming, there was that turn from descent to ascent. But the earth with its heavier mass is slower to respond.
In some ways the earth’s decline through these 2,000 years is just the continuation. It’s picking up the extreme negativity of 2,000 years ago—it’s still caught in that spiral as well as shaped human carelessness today.
The earth needs to feel your love. And you each need to feel your love, in order to choose the light.
This is vital. It needs to be a conscious choice: I choose the light. I choose non-harm to any being. I choose love.
Aaron has spoken to you much about this and I will not repeat.
Excerpt 3: Essenes and the Origin of the Christian Church; Time to Speak
Mary (B): A lot of the choices today are made based on misconceptions and misstatements from 2,000 years ago.
Yeshua did not come to save people from past sin. There was no ‘sin’; there was negativity. He came to remind them to stop sinking into negativity (S.I.N.); to create a new future moving in the direction of light and of love; to—simply put—love one another. Much else is simply plastered on afterward by the priests of those times and so forth.
There was an inner circle of female disciples who came—had planned it long, long before his birth—to support Yeshua’s birth and his mission here. As I said yesterday, most of these female disciples were related in some way through birth or marriage; they had known each other in many lifetimes and planned ahead for many generations.
The circle of 12 male disciples also planned ahead; it was certainly not random. They each knew that they had work to do with Yeshua and were committed to it. But they did not have the same ties together; more just with Yeshua.
So for the female disciples, we were already close through so many lifetimes. For the men, they stepped in, each bringing their gift, each passionate about the work they would do, but at times vying with each other, and drawing some bits of negative energy into the works.
That was useful because, while there was certainly much negativity in the world, it was helpful for them as literally brothers in the light to learn how to work with the negativity and competitiveness that they felt with each other.
They strived to do that, they really did. They were all wonderful people. And as history probably has told, I did not agree with many of them and many of them strongly disliked me. But I would say that they were all wonderfully committed to Yeshua, had truly come just to serve.
But they hated the idea that there were females who were put on an equal level with them, and especially me. Mary Anna they opened to because she was Yeshua’s mother. Me, it angered them. In those days women did not have any position of power, and yet I had more power than any of them.
Not more power—let me say this carefully. More power because of more experience and more understanding of how to work with the energy and convert it into power without its being used as one’s power over another, because as soon as power is considered power over another that power destroys itself. To be effective, it can only be pure power as energy.
The people of that day, especially the leaders, viewed women with any kind of power with much fear and disdain. They changed Yeshua’s words, the meaning of the words and also of course the words themselves, once he was gone. History, as it is said, rewrites itself.
So, they blurred the important parts of his teaching and created their own power structure within a church that was theoretically designed to serve him, but in fact simply obliterated or confused much that he came to teach.
As our friend Tavis has said in his book, speaking as my beloved brother James, it is time to speak. It is time for people to know, to understand.
This is not an anti-Christian dialogue, but what is Christianity?
First, I do not believe in any kind of ‘ism’ or ‘-ity’; I believe in people loving one another and serving each other.
And if there is a high teacher, like Yeshua, the Christ, not to create a religion of Christianity, but to learn how to emulate him and be the Christ that you already are. To reveal the Christ or awakened consciousness in yourself.
This is all that Christianity should teach. But it was formed by men, by humans, many of whom had lower vibration, lower consciousness grounded in fear and lust for power.
To honor them there were many who truly wanted to serve and wanted to see a world that could love one another, but they had no understanding of how to love.
Instead of the church that was built to serve Yeshua teaching how to love, it began to teach how to take power. How to take power with the guise of, “If the Church is not powerful, people are going to do harm. I have to stop them from doing harm by teaching them these specific rules, these forms of negativity against others. That somebody who acts in this way or acts in that way, they are sinners, they must be condemned or destroyed.”
What kind of myth is this? This is not what he said. And it saddens me that the church that was built to serve him could not have been a true church. It still can be; it can transform. The whole idea of Christian, if one wants to cling to that word, can be changed to mean one who truly knows how to love themselves and others, and who does no harm. That would be wonderful, if all who considered themselves Christian could drop away any prejudice, could attend to any prejudice and old stories in themselves, and learn to truly cherish themselves and others. If all who see themselves as loving, regardless of religious affiliation, could do this too.
For those who recognize the need for this—as James said, it’s time to speak, because unless this understand is held in the world, you humans are simply going to destroy each other.
Right now, there is some degree of balance: extreme positivity truly dedicated to non-harm; extreme negativity truly committed to service to self, and a large area in the middle.
So let us call it—please do not hold me to these numbers; this is example, only—let us call it 20% truly service to all beings and 20% truly service only to self. And the middle 60%, some a little more one way, some a little more the other way, but they can easily be taught. They can be taught negativity and hatred; they can be taught love.
Those who are committed to service to all beings must learn how to enact that— how to deal with prejudice, hatred, and fear in themselves, and each teach one. Teaching, spreading the word—as we did 2,000 years ago, spreading the word. It is possible.
It needs only over 50% shifted to commitment to positive polarity—even if they are not yet fully in that highest per cent of positive—committed to it, to bring the earth consciousness into a fully ascending spiral of consciousness and into an awakened earth.
You don’t need that whole 60 in the middle, you only need 30 of it. 32, 33… It’s very possible. But it can only happen with truth.
The men in that inner disciple group, that first circle of disciples, were sent out to teach. That was their mission, to bring the word to the world in an outer level using words; trying to live the example of what Yeshua taught them, but at least to speak about it, if they could not fully live it. And they could not live it. Perhaps none yet can. But they could speak about it.
The women’s work was to move into the hearts of people. To work with the emotional, to work with consciousness, to work with love.
You don’t need to talk about love if you see somebody lying on the ground wounded. You don’t lecture him about, “Why did you get into a battle where you were wounded?” You just hold him with love and wash his wounds. You teach love in that way.
Some of the missionaries of your world set out in that direction, but they were so grounded in the idea that the other were sinners and must repent of their sins and take Yeshua as their Lord or they would go to hell, so caught up in those myths, that they could not truly love. So how could they teach love?
They went out as missionaries to promote his word, his work, but they did not live it. I do not say all; a few did. But most could not live it, because people have not yet learned what it means to love unconditionally.
My beloved friend and teacher who comes to you as the Mother, she is a key to this. As she helps many of you to open your hearts and be with her in that high vibration, it heals you in ways that my words cannot heal you.
It is a time to speak, yes. A time to correct the myths of the past and clarify a new direction for the future.
Excerpt 4: Co-Creation: Bringing a Punctured Leaf Back to Intactness; Anger
Mary (B): Just an aside, before I get into the fullness of this segment, I spoke of that teaching of children of the thorn into the finger.
Then we experimented with what happens when there’s a bit of fear, especially with a child, “I have to poke my finger with a thorn. I don’t want to.” Tension. Following the instruction, do it. Then the healing.
But what happens when one holds the thorn and says, “I thank you. This is an instrument of learning, and I thank you. And I invite you to touch and break through the skin so that I can learn something from that, can learn greater healing. But can we do it so as to disrupt the skin in the least possible way?”
You hold that intention to do no real harm; to hold this thorn as an instrument of love because it’s a teacher. To thank it, to touch the skin.
I want you to imagine this. The skin is made of many cells, resting in space. When you touch lightly the thorn can inch its way through between the cells. Just pushing the cells aside a bit so that it opens a small, infinitely small area. You move the touch of the thorn and a tiny drop of blood appears, and then the skin pulls back together. There’s no wound.
This is the next stage that we taught children. We did not teach them in wounding themselves, but they would perhaps take a leaf on a tree, each child holding their leaf. In the beginning we would ask them to—I am not saying they tore the leaf from the tree; the leaf is still attached to the tree. The children are holding the leaves grown on a low branch so that they could sit on the ground and hold the leaf still attached to the tree.
They have the thorn. They puncture the leaf, and then they are going to learn how to bring the leaf back into intactness. So, they puncture it. There’s a “I don’t want to do that. The teacher tells me to do that, puncture. But I made a hole in the leaf,” and they can hear the tree cry out, and a feeling of shame comes. “I hold the leaf.” Apologizing to the leaf.
We worked with them then on sadness and shame, releasing shame. Holding the leaf, and sometimes it would take days for the leaf, something of that lower vibration, second density vibration, to heal itself.
But as the children matured in their work they learned to hold the thorn and ask the leaf’s permission.
“I have come to you to learn this skill so that I can have greater practice at healing anything that asks to be healed. Please, may I touch this thorn into you? Please forgive me for causing you pain. Thank you for working with me on this, to teach me.”
“Thorn, please work your way between the cells of the leaf as best as possible, to create as little damage as possible. But the teacher says I must feel you come out the other side of the leaf.”
Imagine you’re holding the leaf, you’re holding the thorn. You ask the thorn to work its way into the place between the cells until you feel it come through the other side, and then you gently withdraw it.
And then you hold the leaf with love and allow those cells to come back together. And in moments the leaf can be intact again.
This was not just taught to healers; this was taught to little children. So, if the child at some point fell and skinned its knee, it knew how to heal that skinned knee.
We then stepped the process up. Perceiving the thorn as an expression of anger in the self, emotions arise. So if anger comes up, the anger is like a thorn.
At first, I want to use my anger to hurt someone, and I reflect on my non-separation from that which I wish to hurt.
Yet, anger is not bad; anger is energy. Yeshua at times became angry, and we have stories in the Bible about how he used that anger. But they are not really the best teaching stories.
When somebody was harming somebody else, if he came upon a place where people were beating a man, his very powerful, “NO. NO, STOP,” brought everyone to a stop.
He was adept at using anger as energy, not to do harm but to get people’s attention, really. And to shift the situation in whatever ways were most useful.
The children who were taught here in the Mt. Carmel Essene community, for example, the children were taught when anger arose, how to take care of that anger. To remember their lessons with the leaf and the thorn. To ask their anger to do its work without harming another. How to transform—transform, Aaron, or transmute? He says in this case, transform— that anger into a tool that can do the needed work without harm.
When one begins to see that anger can be used in a positive way, one learns not to fear one’s anger, and then not to feel shame about anger.
We would start with anger because all children experience anger, and because we wanted to make it very clear that they were not bad because there was anger, and how to take care of their anger. But then we would move on to other emotions, as the children matured.
I will not say that children within our community experienced no shame. But they learned to take care of their shame and not to fear it or create stories upon it..
Excerpt 5: Competition
Mary (B): Returning to mine and James’ theme that he offers in “A Time to Speak”.
Competition is not bad when it comes from joy. Children can race together, each trying to be the fastest, but not judging themselves or the other, if the other is faster. Applauding the other for being faster, and saying, “I’ll practice more.” The whole thing is in open energy and from a place of joy.
Your world is so competitive, and shame-based competition is so deeply taught here. It lightened my heart to see several times in those Olympic games where somebody had fallen and a competitor came to their aid rather than running on, even in this highest competition.
Where do we start teaching interconnection with all beings?
And I think competitive energy is an interesting place not necessarily to start, but to consider.
I would like to ask people to try an exercise. It can be physical or verbal. If I were to hold up an object, maybe not such a familiar one—I’m pointing to the peach, but if I were to hold up an object and ask people, what is it? First person, what is it? I’m going to hold it up. And the voices cry out. It could be as simple as peach or apple. What is it?
I might say, “you had it first, just a fraction of a second before the others.” Watch the energy in yourself wanting to be first. Laugh with the others, “Yes, you got it first this time.” Perhaps we’ve done a dozen rounds now and the other one always gets it first. Watch any feelings of unworthiness come up. Watch the feeling in the one who has gotten it first, feeling perhaps shame because I keep getting it before the other; maybe I’m hurting the other.
It’s a simple exercise, but it’s one I would like to ask the people that hear this talk to practice with: to see how you can convert feelings, the contraction that comes with competitiveness, with ‘win’ or ‘lose’, into spaciousness. And how with that spaciousness there can be joy in the other’s being first. There can be joy in your being first. There must be both: joy in the other’s being first and joy in your being first, not feelings of greed or sadness or shame. Not feelings of unworthiness because you got it first or the other got it first. But if these feelings do come up, can they be met with compassion?
When I say “must”, we aspire to that evolution where there is only love and joy. This was one of the games we taught the young children. So now you are all my children. You are my daughters and my sons, because I know here, unlike—let me say this carefully—because of who I was, the males, the men did not much listen to me, and even the boys learned not to listen to me.
But now I teach all. I do not teach, I teach/learn. You teach me as much as I teach you. We will do this together.
Excerpt 6: Aaron/Nathaniel; Closing
Mary (B): I would like to add here, when I speak of Aaron, Nathaniel, his name is written perhaps once or twice in the Bible. There’s very little about him. But he was a friend to so many of us. I know Yeshua has spoken of him as a loved friend.
Nathaniel would come in, sometimes he would bring a lamb with him for the children to cuddle and play with. He would sit on the periphery of whatever was happening and listen. And then people would say, come close to him, much as you do today, and say, “I’m troubled by this, Nathaniel. Can you help me?” He was one who listened to us.
Of course, we listened to each other; we took care of each other. But it was sometimes helpful when there was turmoil to have somebody who was so wise and compassionate to turn to and ask questions of, who could see deeply into our being and who understood so much.
Even I as Mary Magdalene at times sought him out when I was troubled; he was a friend. I want to say this in deep love and respect to Nathaniel/Aaron. He had his own areas of confusion, that and the fact that he was not yet fully awakened. And some of us like myself, we could have ascended before that lifetime. We were high 6th density beings and could have ascended. But we chose to stay connected to the earth where we could take new incarnation because there was need for us.
Aaron/Nathaniel was not yet a high 6th density being, but he was such a deeply loving human. He taught me a lot about what it meant to be an awake or almost awake human. And I rejoice for him for his awakening experience 1500 years later.
And in those 1500 years—he does not talk about that time, but he really—Aaron, may I share this? This is personal to you… He says yes. He has not neglected to speak of it out of any fear or holding back, but simply because it was not relevant.
He worked on many other planes. He had maybe only one or two human lifetimes between the Nathaniel lifetime and his awakening lifetime. He was, of course, alive at the time of the Buddha and learned so much. That was before Nathaniel. You’ve heard him speak about that lifetime, I believe. He and the one Barbara was, both of them.
But then after Yeshua’s lifetime he found the value to experience other planes of existence, other forms of existence. To learn more about—I would rather he speak to you about it, if he wishes…
When came back as that Buddhist monk, it had not taken 1500 years to awaken, it’s simply that he was busy serving and learning and— truly serving in many other ways on other planes.
Then he came back. And then he awakened. And now he is still with us. I thank you, Aaron.
(Session concludes)
We give thanks to the earth, to all the elements, to the open heart, to the awakened consciousness, to this earth itself that has the courage to raise in its consciousness.
We welcome you, Earth, as the Eden that you will become with these awakened humans and awakened beings of all kinds dwelling in peace here and in joy.
This is the service we bring. And this is the path to alleviate suffering.
I would say a word here because of my just-spoken words.
The Buddha’s path to alleviate suffering is beautiful. It is one segment of the whole. And I deeply honor the work that you are doing with your meditation practice.
I did not call it vipassana meditation then, but it was the same practice, and it was essential to me. It was essential to Yeshua in his life as a human.
And what you call Pure Awareness practice: just to be present with wonder at the world around you and all the beings of every sort that inhabit it, and know that there is no separation between you. This is the ground for the love to which you aspire.
